Driver's age

25 to 75 years.

Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to hire a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.

Driving licence

International Driving Permit needed along with original domestic licence.

Deposit and Credit card Information

Credit card(s) must be valid for up to 6 months after the rental has ended.

NOT ACCEPTED: No other payment types will be accepted.

A valid credit card in the first name and surname (no abbreviations) of the lead driver must be presented at the rental desk in order to pre-authorise/charge a deposit. Please be prepared to provide the PIN number of the credit card(s) presented as suppliers could require this to proceed with the rental contract.

In the event that you fail to present a valid credit card, there is a lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card or the credit card is not in the lead driver's name, the car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed.

Insurance coverage

Your rental does not include Theft or Damage cover. This is a standard requirement when renting a vehicle, otherwise you can be held liable for the full value of the vehicle in case of damage or theft. Please obtain a letter of proof from your credit card provider that this cover is included on your card and extends to the country of rental. LDW cover can be purchased directly at the rental desk. Please note that you will be required to leave a deposit at the start of your rental.

The Excess Liability is the amount determined by the car rental supplier for which you can be held liable in case of damage/theft of the vehicle. Damage to or loss of tyres, windscreens, glass and undercarriage may not be covered by the CDW (Collision Damage Waiver). Please check with the rental agent at the desk.

If you purchase the Excess Reimbursement Insurance from a third party, the main driver will be required to present their credit card at the rental desk in order for the car rental agent to authorize the deposit.

Travel Restrictions

Please note that customers intending to travel across country/state borders or to different islands within the same country should contact the Rental Company directly prior to pick up to advise of their travel plans. Restrictions and charges may be applicable. Contact details for the Rental Company can be found on your rental voucher.

Form(s) of ID

A valid photo ID (passport or national ID).

For this rental you will also need one original form of proof of address. This must be an original document issued to you by post and feature the same address as on your driver’s licence.

The following rules apply:

a) It must be a utility bill (gas, electric, water use bill etc.).

b) It must be dated within 8 weeks of date of hire.

Please note that mobile phone bills, council tax bills, electronic bills (such as emails and online statements) or their printouts will not be accepted.

You will have to pass a security validation check by car rental agent.

If your form of identification does not include or match your current address, then a separate printed proof of address is required.

Car types

The vehicle displayed and models listed are the most common vehicles used by our car rental partners. We cannot guarantee the make or model of the rental vehicle will be the same as the vehicle displayed on our website.

Voucher

A digital version of your car hire voucher must be produced upon arrival at the rental desk. Failure to present the voucher means the car hire company may charge you at the local rates. Please note: We are not responsible for overcharges on rentals where the voucher was not presented to the car hire company on collection of the vehicle. If you do not present the required documents, the documentation is not valid or you do not have enough funds on your credit card, the car hire company may refuse to release the vehicle and no funds will be reimbursed.

Age Requirements

Rather than requiring customers to be 25 to rent, Avis at this location now rents to customers between the ages of 21-24. An underage surcharge may apply and will automatically be applied to the reservation. Additionally, the following restrictions also will apply for renters between the ages of 21-24: Rentals of luxury cars, mini-vans, 12-passenger vans, specialty cars, and SUVs will not be permitted. Government Minimum Age Policy Minimum age 21 (no underage fee applies).

e-Tolls

Please be aware of roads that maybe "cashless tolls" and drivers on these roads are not able to pay cash once they have entered these roads. You automatically opt into our e-Toll service program and will be charged $17.00 plus GST/HST per rental, plus incurred tolls at the maximum prevailing rates posted by the toll authority. The charges may take 4-8 weeks after the rental to be billed to your credit card/debit card on file

Directions

AFTER-HOURS RETURNS Accepted Park & lock the car. Place the completed contract & the keys in the key drop box. Remember to take your personal belongings with you. *GENERAL DIRECTIONS* Local Office Directions The Avis office is located on 16 Ave NW. The Avis office is located in the Sears parking lot in a stand alone building. PREFERRED SERVICE Local Office Instructions Proceed to the Avis rental counter. Show your drivers license and identify yourself as a Preferred Renter to the Avis rental agent in order to receive your preprinted rental document and keys.

Drivers License

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name. All customers must also present a second form of ID. Please refer to the Additional Information topic for details. Canada licenses required by issuing province to rent a vehicle are: Manitoba requires Class 5 Full (F), New Brunswick requires Class 7 (level 2 only) and Class 5, Ontario requires Class G & G2 and all other provinces require Class 5. Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to their valid drivers license.

Rental Options

Roadside SafetyNet Taxes not included in the Estimated Total and will be applied at the time of rental Roadside SafetyNet (RSN) service is available at all participating Avis locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico & U.S. Virgin Islands and New Zealand. The daily/weekly fee for the Avis Roadside SafetyNet Option is subject to change. RSN covers the cost for assistance with key replacement, lockouts, tire change service fee, jump starts and emergency fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons). Prohibited use of the vehicle will void this option. Other Options Rental options not selected/offered on the avis.com website can not be modified online but have been calculated in the Estimated Total. Taxes not included in the Estimated Total and will be applied at the time of rental. Modifications to these rental options must be made by contacting customer service or can be made at the rental counter.

Towing

Towing is not permitted. Vehicles cannot be used to tow or push anything. A trailer hitch cannot be installed on the vehicles.

Fuel policy

The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of gas or there will be a charge for refueling. Most locations offer a prepaid gas option which you can accept at the rental location. If the vehicle is driven less than 125 kilometers there may be an additional refueling fee, unless a gas receipt is presented at time of return. The customer can check at the time of rental for complete details.

Additional Information

For vehicle Groups: F (Intermediate), G (Premium), H (Luxury), K (Convertible), P (Full Size Pickup), W (Standard), L (Full Size SUV), Z (Premium SUV) and all Group X (Specialty Vehicles). At locations in Canada, you may be asked to provide an additional form of identification as a condition to rent a vehicle. Acceptable forms of additional identification are: Military ID Certificate of Indian Status Canadian passport Canadian Permanent Resident Card Foreign passport that meets the requirements Nexus or Fast/Express card Non-driver's license issued by a province or territory ID card issued by the federal government, provincial or territorial government Credit card (other than the one being used for payment of rental) in Customer's name

Additional Fees

Winter Tires are mandatory on certain roads or the renter/driver may be ticketed by RCMP. QUEBEC - It is mandatory that all vehicles registered in the province of Quebec be equipped with winter tires during the winter months of December through March. All rentals will be charged a daily Tire Management Fee up to 4.50 CAD per day for year-round tire maintenance. The fee is subject to concession recovery fees, GST and QST. ALL OTHER PROVINCES - Winter tire equipped vehicles maybe available in the winter season for reservations at some locations. An additional fee up to 20.00 CAD per day will apply. Fees vary by location and car group.

Credit Card Policies

Avis accepts most major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. Accepted credit card list: Avis Charge Card, American Express, AT&T Capital, Diner's Club, Diner's Club Int'l, Discover, GE Capital, JCB, MasterCard, Peterson, Howell and Heather (PHH), Sears and Visa. Some locations may not accept each of the referenced cards. At the time of rental, a hold of $500.00 CAD or estimated rental charges plus 20%, whichever is greater, is placed on the credit card.

Public Liability and Property Damage

Information not available at this time, please check at time of rental. Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country. Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance. Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival. Information not available at this time, please check at time of rental.

Travel Into Other Countries

Vehicles at this location can be driven throughout the Canadian Provinces with no restrictions. Based on availability; One-way rentals may be allowed to some Canadian cities. Vehicles at this location can be driven throughout the continental US with no restrictions. Based on availability; One-way rentals may be allowed to some US cities. Vehicles at this location are not allowed to travel into Alaska. One-way rentals are also not permitted. Vehicles at this location are not allowed to travel into Mexico. One-way rentals are also not permitted.

Optional Coverages

Acceptance of the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) reduces the renters and authorized additional drivers financial responsibility to $300.00 CAD or $500.00 CAD, dependent upon the vehicle group rented, if the vehicle is damaged or stolen while under rental contract. Using the vehicle in violation of any of the use restrictions listed on the rental agreement could void LDW and leave the renter fully responsible for any damage to the vehicle. All Avis cars are not to be driven on unpaved roads (like gravel, dirt, etc.). If LDW is not accepted, the customer is financially responsible for the full value of: Accident damage Glass damage Vandalism Theft of the car Stolen items such as radio, battery, etc. Partial Loss Damage Waiver (PDW) is available at participating off airport locations. All inquiries regarding PDW availability and cost should be referred to the rental location. Global insurance coverages are always subject to change. Please verify at time of rental.

Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are not accepted at time of rental at this location. A debit card can be used to pay for the rental at the time of car return.
